Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 57: Sunday, October 27
Unifying Presence, in these last days before the election, help us to love and respect everyone, especially those with whom we disagree, and to recognize that everyone and everything is part of the Body of Christ.
Day 58: Monday, October 28
All-seeing One, we grieve with You for the suffering of Your people, particularly in Sudan. May the world turn its attention to this country and work as a united whole to ensure that all Sudanese live in safety and health.
Day 59: Tuesday, October 29
Loving Creator, I pray for all species facing extinction because of our over- consumerism and the destruction of natural habitats. Turn our hearts and minds to You, whose love and grace are enough for abundant living.
Day 60: Wednesday, October 30
All-encompassing One, when I see my neighbors on freeway exits and streets asking for money, fill my heart with love and compassion. Help me treat them as siblings in Your family.
Day 61: Thursday, October 31
God of Comfort, I pray for all migrants who flee their countries out of fear, intimidation, and violence. May all people understand the migrant journey, be filled with compassion, and welcome new arrivals as gifted brothers and sisters.
Day 62: Friday, November 1
Risen Christ, we remember all our family members and friends that have died. May they enjoy eternal rest in You, while continuing to fill our lives with hope and love.
Day 63: Saturday, November 2
We pray that all newly elected leaders put just policy over politics and the common good over party loyalty. May our country re-commit to the ideal of justice for all and celebrate the diversity of races, languages, and ways of being.
