100 Days of Prayer (s21): Days 36-42

Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.

God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.

Day 36: Sunday, October 6

God of abundance, remind me that there is enough for everyone and that no one should be denied basic needs like food, clean water, affordable housing. Show me how to share my blessings with my brothers and sisters.

Day 37: Monday, October 7

Today I pray for diplomacy, peace, and justice to prevail in conflicts between nations. Soften the hearts of leaders to generate peace talks, cooperation, and solutions that protect the people from violence, poverty, and subjugation.

Day 38: Tuesday, October 8

Holy One, guide us to recognize the dignity in each person as we collectively participate in our representative democracy. Enable all voices to be heard via easy access to voting for anyone who is eligible.

Day 39: Wednesday, October 9

Today I pray for just and balanced budgets that reflect values of caring for every person and supporting the common good more than special interests.

Day 40: Thursday, October 10

Creator of heaven and earth, lead me to be the best possible steward of the common home You’ve provided. Let my efforts to care of our common home be a visible love letter to future generations.

Day 41: Friday, October 11

Today I pray for resolve to overcome the gun lobby with common-sense measures to study gun violence and keep weapons away from people who would harm others.

Day 42: Saturday, October 12

God with us, lead me to recognize inequities in our society, wisdom to discern what to do, and courage to take action. If I can help my neighbor, then nudge me from my comfort zone.
