100 Days of Prayer (s20): Days 85-91

Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.

God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.

Day 85: Sunday, August 4

As the Olympics continue, I pray that this global gathering remains free of trafficked persons of any kind. Transform the hearts of perpetrators who create a demand or profit from this crime. May victims find hope and a way out.

Day 86: Monday, August 5

God of peace, draw the conflict around Israel to a close. Stop that war and all violent actions that surround it. Lower the temperature of hate, anger, and revenge. Return hostages to loved ones, and begin healing and reconciliation.

Day 87: Tuesday, August 6

Holy Spirit, inspire courageous actions that ensure fair voter representation, free from obstructions. Enable everyone’s voice to be heard. May election results be honored for a peaceful transition of power in all nations.

Day 88: Wednesday, August 7

Today I pray for coverage in the form of fire or flood insurance. May policies that require such protection also require accessible insurance that is reasonably affordable. Keep me safe from environmental and economic catastrophies.

Day 89: Thursday, August 8

God of provision, when I am homeless and authorities clear my camp, let me have a place to go. Thank You for offering me what I need: a roof, some nourishment, a hand up when needed, and a smile that recognizes me.

Day 90: Friday, August 9

Today I pray for wisdom to apply a blend of knowledge, creativity, compassion, and community to solve ongoing, complex issues. Multiply this within my sisters and brothers so we may strive together toward a just and unified world.

Day 91: Saturday, August 10

God of love, soften the hearts of those who label migrants as any type of criminal. Open our eyes to see past election-year fearmongering. Let us recognize brothers and sisters as authentic people in need whom we can help.
